Brita: Lifetime in a landfill

I really like some of the Brita ads. They tap into the environmental sensibilities many people have. The first time I saw this spot, I thought they were selling a health product. The reveal at 15 seconds give the missing piece of information and the expected ahh-haa moment.

Check this following ad out. It points out a flaw in Brita’s reasoning. I think you will like it.

Have you looked at the site http://www.takebackthefilter.org ? Looks like Brita has a recycling program now, but requires you to drop off the filter at a grocery store, or mail it to them (which I assume you have to pay for).

It’s still probably just as easy to drink pure tap water.

Brian.

Thanks Brian. I hadn’t followed the link.

We have a whole house filtration system by Ecowater. Two filters are replaced every year and the other under sink filter is replaced every other year. I will look into what they do with those filters after they are discarded. At any rate our water tastes exceptionally good. Once in awhile we buy distilled water to use with the iron. Even our animals drink filtered water, I think it is very healthy for them as well.
